Welcome to Wodensborough Ormiston Academy.
This 11-16 Academy was originally formed in September 1968, by the amalgamation of a Girls’ High School and two Secondary Modern Schools. We are now an expanding academy that is part of the Ormiston network, located centrally to the Midlands in Wednesbury, near West Bromwich with 975 students currently on roll.
In 2013 we produced our best ever exam results and we intend to do that again this year. We are proud of our academy and having just undergone a £15 million investment through BSF it offers state of the art facilities in brand new buildings which boasts extensive computer suites, all weather sports facilities, drama theatre and studio, a suite of food technology rooms, a super laboratory with numerous science laboratories, dance studio and a learning resources centre that is well equipped and busy. In addition, as a BSF school, we have a highly developed technology and ICT infrastructure. Every student and member of staff has access to an independent learning device which is used in lessons as part of our commitment to learning in the digital age.
In September 2012 as part of moving into the new buildings the academy also re-launched its uniform and re-asserted its standards. There is a traditional feel to the academy where discipline, attendance and punctuality matter and students are expected to play a part in their own future through organisation and commitment to learning. Students wear their uniform proudly and many lessons routinely start early, before the bell!
In November 2013 we became an academy as part of the Ormiston network. This has helped us build on the existing good practice and will support our journey to the next level.
